When I see how many days are left, it doesn’t seem so long. I always like seeing visible countdowns to something exciting that’s going to happen!

http://free.timeanddate.com/countdown/i3de0q8u/n152/cf12/cm0/cu4/ct5/cs0/ca0/co1/cr0/ss1/cac639/cpc637/pcfff/tc66c/fs100/szw320/szh135/tatI%20fly%20to%20Zurich%20in/tac417/tptTime%20since%20I%20flew%20to%20Zurich/tpc416/iso2013-01-20T16:45:00/bo2/pa10

Sixty-six days to go (this was when I made the countdown). The counter will also count upwards once the day arrives. I look forward to coming back here years from now, and then seeing how many days have passed since I was reunited with my other half. 🙂

I’m done shopping for all the things I wanted to give to Chloe, my swap partner. 😀 It took longer than I thought, but I really hope she’ll like them. Today, I wrapped them all. The wrapping is a bit unimaginative. I recently packed away all my things for my move to Zurich, and I was left with no ribbons. I used paper and stickers that I’m not taking, they were from Christmases of the past.

Xmas swop presents 2012

All 12 items, wrapped. I had a lot of gold wrapping paper, as you can see.

I also found a box that would fit them all, without having to buy one. I’m on a tight budget right now, have to work with what I can find… plus, I get to reuse rather than dump this box in the bin. That’s what it’s all about, isn’t it?

I’ll definitely pad these up before I post. Oh, I’m getting so excited! I have yet to hear from the swop partner that I will receive items from. I might drop her a line and give her my address. 😀

Just wanted to update everyone on my progress for the 12 Days of Christmas Swop. I have already collected 9 of 12 items. They’re not wrapped yet, I have a lot of personal packing to do before the 12th of November. I shall do all my wrapping after that. 🙂

I’m super excited and hope the future recipient will like them. So far, I have things like stationery, costume jewellery and fashion accessories, and maybe one item could be classed as a trinket. I was straying towards every item being purple, but I forced myself to include items in other colours. ^^

Soon, I’ll be moving back to Zurich, this time for a longer period of time, and with a spouse. We’ll also be moving from the suburb Oerlikon, to Affoltern! Michael was successful with his flat application–he has the gift. Let me share some photos with you. Please excuse the quality though.

Screenshot from Google Maps. Our place is the ground floor apartment, with four windows facing the street. A pedestrian crossing is just outside the apartment, which is always convenient.

Living room. We’ll need good curtains. I’m excited about this place because it’s so much bigger than Michael’s current flat, and it has several advantages too! Like no balconies. I don’t spend time on them, so why have wasted space?

This would be another one of those advantages, my own washing machine and dryer!! This is the absolute holy grail of apartments, to me, that is. I disliked sharing washing machines and sticking to a schedule. I had to run up and down like a maniac to get all our week’s washing done. No more, no more… 🙂

Doppellavabo. Sweet. No fighting for space. I get the sink in the corner, so I can take my time! I dare say this will be our apartment for several years to come.

The only room that has windows that face the backyard. It’s on the small side, but we’ll use this as our bedroom. I can’t stand noises such as speech and music while I’m trying to sleep, so this room should be ok.

Backyard, and view of the building with other apartments. I shall never step into the yard, because of all the prying eyes.

This supermarket is just 3 minutes away, by foot. The bus stop is 2 minutes away, and train station 5 minutes. It’s a really great location, since we won’t have a car.

Well, thanks for joining me on this tour. When I finally get there, in January, I shall have some photos to share, and even more of my sacred crafting and hobby space. Yay!

It’s about time I changed things around here. Of course I’m still considered very lazy, because I am using a pre-created theme and not designing my own. The only thing I did was make a header image.

Just for records, I shall screenshot the new blog design.

I hope this new change will help me keep up with updates. I don’t think people really follow my blog, but hopefully, I won’t mind talking to myself.  😀

I made my own pull rings! 131/366
My very first project using the lost wax casting technique. I thought it would be a sweet idea to make little pull rings for these collector’s dolls.

Blythe pull rings, cast and ready for finishing
This was how I got them back. Actually cost a bomb each ($9.50), mainly for the casting service fee. I ordered the two rings in bronze and the teardrop in brass.

Would anyone be interested
These were hand-carved, cast and then hand-finished to a shine.
The Blythe/Twiggy inspired pull rings have a bevelled edge.
I can get these cast in brass or sterling silver (much dearer in cost). If no one’s interested, I might just give up on this. It’s not very economical unless I order more than 10 at once… but there is a very nice weight to them and they’re so pretty!

Large bevelled pull ring 7.8 grams (bronze)
Small bevelled pull ring 5.8 grams (bronze)
Teardrop 9.1 grams (brass)
I suspect brass is a tad bit heavier and denser than bronze.

Bronze equals disaster
I didn’t realise Bronze tarnishes in minutes when it touches water! The first time it happened, I had it tumbled for hardness, rinsed off and I left it to dry naturally. Came back 20 minutes later and it had green spots that were impossible to come off. Back to the polishing lathe… Second go, I needed to remove the soot left by the lathe, so I popped it into my ultrasonic. After 5 minutes, I picked them out and they were like this. I give up! I’m never making anything in bronze again.

Brass and bronze comparison
Brass and bronze come very close in colour, with brass just a bit more yellow and bronze is covered in patches of red tarnish. I had high hopes for that metal.

We’ll see if any one is interested, otherwise I’ll just make them only for myself.
